June 10-11 Travel Day

We had no problems getting to SF airport in plenty of time.  As soon as Zoe saw a Japanese restaurant- she had to eat lunch.  She managed to finish off the giant bowl of udon plus edamame and she ate half my seaweed salad!

The flight was long and uncomfortable in coach but at least ANA had individual screens with many choices for movies & even video games.  We were tired when we got to Tokyo but still had no problems getting to our next flight and arriving Beijing the evening of June 11.  H1N1 is a VERY serious subject here.  Officials came on the plane all masked and took everyone’s temperature and checked all passengers.   I cleared my throat & an official came running over to ask me questions!  Luckily, no one was sick and we breezed through customs. We feel lucky we got here and had an appointment for adoption with the WHO level going to 6 it is the top news story again.

Helen, our guide was right there waiting for us to help us to our hotel.  By then only Zoe slept a few hours and we were all tired.

The Lee Garden hotel has apartments & we have a huge place.  It has 2 bedrooms & 2 baths, kitchen and large living room.  It was a great choice with 2 “big” girls and it has free internet, breakfast and a washer in the apartment.  For anyone coming to adopt soon- I think it is an excellent choice.  Right near the shopping district, the staff is helpful and speaks English well enough and it is clean with an amazing pool and health club.  As you know in China- all the rooms have only 1 bed or 2 single beds so routine hotel rooms do not work with 4 people.

  2. Wow! This was all obviously worth the very long wait. We feel like we are there with you and are so glad that Joy's note helped. It sounds like Yihui is already making a fabulous adjustment and will fit right in with the family(including eating habits, loves veggies and loves to eat like Zoe!). Yihui sure has thinned out-Joy did the same thing once she turned 10. Guess today will be a shopping day! There is a great Children's Theatre waling distance from downtown that both girls would probably enjoy-short great kid shows!
Hugs and kisses to all of you!
